DAY 38 - BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR

In Job's suffering he was found faithful. He refused to accept all the contrary things that were told him by his friends, he rather persevered and finally God showed up for him. We saw Job possessing a double portion of what he used to have after forgiving and praying for his friends. Above all God himself fulfilled his number of days here on with one hundred and forty years, he saw his children up to the fourth generations, hmm! that was real prosperity. Indeed, Job was a faithful servant of God!

We also see in the Book of Psalms for today, how God delivered King David from the strivings of the people and made him the head of the Heathen. If God did it for David and Job, it means he can do it again and again for you and I only if we can be found faithful.

In the gospel of Matthew, our Bible reading for today, Job would be likened to that faithful servant whose master found worthy over a few things and thereafter put him in charge of many things.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me to become a faithful servant to the point of God himself calling me his faithful servant also, Amen!

DAY 37 - BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR

I told us in the last session that God would arise and ask certain questions. He asked Job several questions, over 40 questions, wow! In all God was so disappointed that Job's friends didn't apply knowledge in all they spoke concerning Job's suffering. Please brethren, let's mind what we say to people. What you don't know, you don't know and so, don't exaggerate words.

I guess when God appeared into Job's stead, after all the negative interpretations by his friends, he would have declared like David as in our Bible passage for today in Psalms, God you armed me with strength all through this trial period.

Job's friends I guess would have learnt their lessons from the answer Christ gave his disciples and us too, when they asked him about his second coming. Jesus simply told them he didn't know nor does anyone else know except the Father. Don't allow yourself to be pressured into accepting to know what you don't know.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me not to be under any pressure of accepting what I don't know, Amen.

DAY 36 - BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR

Elihu continued insulting Job, he requested of Job to suffer him a little, and he would show him that he had yet to speak on God's behalf. Hmm! Elihu to speak on God's behalf? Anyways, in the subsequent chapters, we will hear what God has to say about all these empty talks from Elihu.

How nice it would have been if Elihu and other so called friends who claimed to have come to comfort Job engaged him (Job) with words of wisdom and understanding, I believe all the parties involved would have been better for it. Like in Proverbs, our passage for today pointed out that wisdom and understanding are of super value, so in all your getting, get them.

At the last days, the love of many will grow cold, read our Bible passage for today in Matthew. But must you and I be among those? Can't we ask God for the grace to keep standing in love for Him and others? He says ask and you shall receive.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, give me the grace to stand on that love that Christ Jesus showered on me first in reaching out to others in like manner, Amen.

DAY 35 - BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR

Elihu who was much younger than Job clashed into his condition to pour out insults on him. This kind of Elihu' attitude is very prevalent in the would now. Most youths now behave any how, not showing nor giving respect to their elders, even to open up their mouths to greet is the most difficult thing for some youths to do, may God help us all, Amen.

But Job maintained his focus and integrity on God, in spite of the miserable comforters he had as friends and sympathizers. He didn't insult Elihu back, he rather continued in his integrity walk with God and only responded to Elihu to clear him on certain critical areas he was being accused of.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me to walk in the integrity of my heart with you, Amen.

DAY 34 - BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR

From our passages in today's Bible reading in Job, we have seen how Job refused to be lured into the sin of lustfulness and adultery. Despite his wealth, he trusted in God rather than in his wealth. He never gloated over his enemies when they were challenged. He took care of the poor and catered for the welfare of his workers, he didn't take advantage of them. You can now understand why God called Job his servant and went ahead to allow Satan to tempt him.

Like Job, David faced so many challenges from his enemies but each time he had to cry out to God to rescue him and trust God he did and this time he brought him into a spacious place. We, like Job and David should only look unto God for help and not anywhere else. He is ever ready to save us when we call on him.

Just like job again, Jesus also went through trials in the hands of the Pharisees and yet subdued them by the power of God.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me to totally rely on you for everything in my life, Amen.

DAY 33 - BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR

Job 25

No wonder Job could not speak against God and die, he understood by the power of the Holy Spirit that the fear of the Lord is wisdom and that to shun evil is understanding because according to his words in our Bible passages for today in Job, he taught his friends the power of God to deliver him, even in the midst of his suffering!

Every believer should crave to have an intimate relationship with God, like David and Job did. When you do, you will find out that you can't stand injustice and evil happenings in this world without taking up the gospel of Christ to the doorsteps of those who have been ordained for salvation. Job did it in his days, he catered for the poor and needy, even widows and all manner of needs at that time.

In the Book of Matthew for today, we have seen how people rejected Jesus' calling, just for what does not matter most but let's not be like those who rejected Jesus' calling for a reassuring walk with him in this evil times.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, give me grace to follow you to the end of life, so help me God, Amen.

DAY 32 - BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR

Job 22

Though Job's friends didn't yet believe that he was innocent of the suffering that befell him, Job kept on trusting and having faith in God. It seemed to Job that God was far away from him for he said, if only he knew where to find him (God).

Like Proverbs, our Bible reading for today, Job was wise enough to put his total confidence in God, which made him not to speak against God and die as his wife earlier suggested to him.

We that follow after Christ should believe in God as well as Job did, that is the only way to life. Jesus says in Matthew 21:21, if you have faith and not doubt, it will be done  (paraphrased), so let's just keep believing in God.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me not to doubt you at all in any point of my life, Amen.
