The Wisdom to Build or Divide

Proverbs 20:24, Bible verse of the day
Dearly Beloved,

Day 233: Bible in One Year Devotion🙏

The journey of life often presents us with crossroads, where decisions either build or divide, establish or destroy. Proverbs 20:15-24 reminds us that wisdom, justice, and understanding are more valuable than material wealth. Our steps must be guided by God, as we navigate the complexities of life.

The story of "Rehoboam" in 2 Chronicles 10, 11 & 12 illustrates the tragic consequences of rejecting wise counsel. His harsh response to the people's plea for lighter burdens led to the division of Israel, with ten tribes breaking away. This teaches us the importance of listening to sound advice and understanding the impact of our decisions on others.

1 Corinthians 14:1-19 brings us back to the church's spiritual life, highlighting the importance of prophecy over tongues. Prophecy, being clear and understandable, builds up the church by providing guidance and encouragement. Just as Rehoboam’s decisions divided a nation, our choices in spiritual matters can either build up the body of Christ or sow confusion.

In all things, we must seek God’s wisdom, allowing Him to guide our steps. As we prioritize His ways, we will find that our decisions lead to unity, strength, and growth in both our personal lives and the church community.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, grant me the wisdom to make decisions that honor You and build others up. Guide my steps according to Your will, and help me seek counsel that aligns with Your truth. May my life reflect Your love and grace, bringing unity and strength wherever I go. Amen.
