Living with Eternal Perspective

Dearly Beloved

Day 245: Bible in One Year Devotion🙏

Devotion:

In our daily lives, it’s easy to get caught up in the pursuit of pleasure and material wealth. Proverbs 21:17-26 warns us that loving pleasure can lead to poverty, and that true prosperity comes from pursuing righteousness and love. This wisdom encourages us to focus on what truly matters—living a life that honors God.

Micah 5 speaks of a promised ruler from Bethlehem, whose greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. This prophecy points to Jesus, our shepherd and peace. In Micah 6, God reminds Israel of His righteous acts and calls them to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him. These are timeless principles that guide us in living a life pleasing to God.

Micah 7 acknowledges the misery and corruption in the world but also offers hope. Despite the unfaithfulness of people, the prophet declares his trust in God, saying, “But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me” (Micah 7:7). This hope is a powerful reminder that God is our light and salvation, even in the darkest times.

2 Corinthians 5:1-10 shifts our focus to the eternal. Paul speaks of our earthly bodies as temporary tents and assures us of an eternal house in heaven. This passage encourages us to live by faith, not by sight, and to make it our goal to please God. It reminds us that our true home is with the Lord, and we should live with an eternal perspective.

Reflection:

Pursue Righteousness: Reflect on areas in your life where you may be prioritizing pleasure over righteousness. How can you realign your focus to pursue what truly matters?

Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly: Consider how you can incorporate these principles into your daily interactions and decisions.

Live by Faith: In what ways can you strengthen your faith and trust in God’s promises, especially when facing challenges?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to live with an eternal perspective. Guide us to pursue righteousness, act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with You. Strengthen our faith to trust in Your promises and find hope in Your salvation. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
