We've read from the Book of Genesis how famine led Israel and his entire households into abiding in Egypt, under the Governorship of Joseph, his son. It happened that when they had all gone to be with their forefathers, the new king (Pharaoh), who didn't know what transpired in the past and his people became envious of the Israelites because God had prospered them in all sides. He then began to subject them to assorted harsh conditions, then God heard their cry and decided to send Moses who was Pharaoh's adopted grandson to rescue them. Moses gave God several reasons why he should not be the one but then accepted later when he was certain that it was God who was sending him, for God promised to be with him in the rescue mission.
At the end of this Book of Exodus, we are going to see how Pharaoh was able to see the handywork of God in the Israelites, just as the Psalmist noted it in our today's passage, vs1.
Jesus our saviour,experienced the same unfriendly conditions that Pharaoh showed to the Israelites, to the extent of being betrayed by one of his disciples whom he, himself chose into the twelve. The same is very much prevalent in our present age. But may we not be the ones fronting or aiding hostilities towards others, Amen.
Prayer:
