The Farewell of a Faithful Leader

Deuteronomy 31:6 is the Bible verse of the day
Dearly Beloved,

Day 68: Chronological Bible Story in One Year Plan

Opening Scene

The wilderness journey that began with miracles and rebellion is coming to an end. Moses, now 120 years old, stands before Israel one final time. The leader who confronted Pharaoh, parted the Red Sea, and carried the burdens of a nation prepares to pass the mantle.

The Story Unfolds

In Deuteronomy 31, Moses announces that Joshua will lead the people into the Promised Land. He encourages Israel with a powerful assurance: God Himself will go before them. The Law is written down and entrusted to the priests, to be read regularly so every generation remembers God’s covenant.

In Deuteronomy 32, Moses teaches the people a song—a poetic reminder of God’s faithfulness and Israel’s tendency to forget Him. The song serves as a witness through generations, warning them never to abandon the God who rescued them.

In Deuteronomy 33, Moses blesses the twelve tribes of Israel. His words echo both prophecy and fatherly affection. Each tribe receives a unique blessing, reflecting God’s care for the entire nation.

In Deuteronomy 34, the final chapter unfolds with quiet reverence. God brings Moses to Mount Nebo and allows him to see the Promised Land from afar. Though he will not enter it, he witnesses the fulfillment of God’s promise. Moses dies there, and the Lord Himself buries him. Israel mourns for thirty days.

Yet the story does not end with Moses. Joshua rises to lead, filled with wisdom and courage.
