Day 115 – Chronological Bible Story in One Year Plan; 2 Kings 9, 10, & 11
Opening Scene:
The time has come for long-awaited judgment. What God spoke through His prophets is about to unfold swiftly, as a new leader is anointed to carry out His purpose.
The Story Unfolds:
Elisha sends a young prophet to anoint Jehu as king over Israel, declaring that he will bring judgment upon the house of Ahab for their wickedness and the bloodshed caused by Jezebel.
Jehu moves with boldness and urgency. He confronts King Joram and kills him, fulfilling prophecy. Then he goes to Jezreel, where Jezebel meets her end exactly as foretold—bringing closure to a long period of corruption and idolatry.
Jehu continues his mission, destroying the entire household of Ahab and eliminating the worshippers of Baal from Israel. Though his actions fulfill God’s judgment, his own heart is not fully devoted, as he continues in the sins of Jeroboam.
Meanwhile, in Judah, Athaliah seizes power after her son’s death and attempts to destroy the royal line. But in a hidden act of courage, a baby named Joash is rescued and protected in the temple for years.
At the right time, the priest Jehoiada orchestrates a plan. Joash is revealed and crowned king, and Athaliah’s rule comes to an end. The people rejoice, and worship of the Lord is restored in the land.
Spiritual Insight:
God’s word always comes to pass—whether in blessing or judgment. What He has spoken will be fulfilled in His time.
Also, God preserves His purpose even in the darkest moments. When it seems like all hope is lost, He is still working behind the scenes.
Life Application:
Take God’s word seriously. Walk in obedience, knowing that both His promises and warnings are real.
Trust God even when situations look hopeless. He is able to preserve what concerns you and bring restoration at the right time.
Prayer:
Lord God, help me to trust in Your word completely. Keep me walking in obedience and align my heart with Your will. Even in difficult times, remind me that You are working and that Your promises will never fail. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Challenge of the Day:
Hold on to one promise of God today and declare it over your life. Also, examine your heart—are you fully aligned with God, or are there areas that need adjustment?
