Day 114 – Chronological Bible Story in One Year Plan; 2 Kings 6, 7, & 8
Opening Scene:
In a time of danger and uncertainty, God begins to reveal that there is more happening than what the natural eyes can see. Behind every visible battle, there is an unseen reality where God is already at work.
The Story Unfolds:
The chapter opens with a simple miracle—an iron axe head falls into the water, and through Elisha, it floats. Even in small concerns, God shows His power and care.
Soon, a greater conflict arises. The king of Aram tries to capture Elisha because he keeps revealing their battle plans to Israel. One morning, Elisha’s servant wakes to see their city surrounded by a vast army. Fear grips him, but Elisha prays that his eyes be opened. Suddenly, he sees the hills full of horses and chariots of fire—God’s army surrounding them. What looked like defeat was actually divine protection.
Later, Samaria faces a severe famine due to a siege. Desperation fills the city, but God promises sudden provision. In an unexpected turn, four lepers discover that the enemy camp has been abandoned. God had caused the Arameans to flee, and abundance replaces scarcity overnight—just as God said.
In another account, the Shunammite woman is warned by Elisha about a coming famine. She obeys, leaves the land, and later returns to find her property restored by divine favor.
Finally, the story shifts as Elisha prophesies future events, including the rise of Hazael as king of Aram and the continued unfolding of God’s plan across nations.
Spiritual Insight:
There is always more happening than what you can see. God’s protection, provision, and plans operate beyond the natural realm.
Also, God’s word never fails—what He speaks, He brings to pass, even in unexpected ways.
Life Application:
When faced with fear, ask God to help you see from His perspective. Trust that He is working even when circumstances look overwhelming.
Hold on to God’s promises. Even when situations seem delayed or impossible, His word will come to pass.
Prayer:
Lord God, open my eyes to see beyond the natural. Help me to trust in Your protection and provision, even in difficult times. Strengthen my faith to believe Your word and to rest in Your sovereignty. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Challenge of the Day:
In any situation causing fear or worry, pause and remind yourself that God is in control. Declare His promises over your situation and choose faith over fear.
