The Lord Reigns

Psalm 91:1 the Bible verse of the day photo.
Dearly Beloved,

Day 308 – Chronological Bible's Story in One Year Plan

Acts 25–26; Psalm 93

Opening Scene

A prisoner stands before governors and a king. Paul’s wrists may be bound, but his testimony is unrestrained. Festus struggles to understand the accusations, while King Agrippa listens as Paul recounts the encounter that changed his life. The courtroom belongs to Rome, yet a greater throne rules over every earthly authority. Psalm 93 declares, “The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty.” Paul’s defence reveals this truth: the risen Christ reigns, and no human power can silence His gospel.

The Story Unfolds

In Acts 25, the Jewish leaders renew their accusations against Paul and seek to have him brought to Jerusalem, hoping to ambush him. Festus refuses to deliver him into their hands. Paul appeals to Caesar, exercising his right as a Roman citizen and setting his course toward Rome. Festus admits that the charges concern their religion and a certain Jesus, whom Paul declares to be alive.

In Acts 26, Paul stands before King Agrippa and recounts his former life as a zealous persecutor of the church. On the road to Damascus, a light brighter than the sun surrounded him, and the risen Jesus called him to become a witness. Christ commissioned him to open the eyes of the Gentiles, turn them from darkness to light, and bring them into the inheritance of those sanctified by faith.

Paul declares that he has not been disobedient to the heavenly vision. He preaches repentance and works worthy of repentance, proclaiming that the Messiah would suffer and rise from the dead. Festus calls him mad, but Paul answers with sober truth. Agrippa is moved by the testimony, though the hearing ends without his release. The rulers conclude that Paul could have been freed if he had not appealed to Caesar.

Psalm 93 proclaims the Lord’s eternal reign. The world is established by His power; the floods lift their voices, yet the Lord is mightier than their roaring. His throne is established of old, and His testimonies are sure. Holiness adorns His house forever.

The connection is unmistakable: earthly rulers may judge Paul, but the Lord reigns above them. The raging accusations resemble the mighty waters, yet they cannot overthrow God’s purpose. Paul’s confidence rests not in a favourable verdict, but in the sovereign Christ who called him and holds his future.

Spiritual Insight

God’s sovereignty does not promise that every trial will end in immediate release. It assures us that no trial can overturn His reign or silence His purpose. Paul’s bold witness and Psalm 93’s royal declaration call believers to stand firm: Christ is Lord, His Word is sure, and His kingdom cannot be shaken.

Life Application

Be ready to give a clear testimony of what Christ has done in your life. Do not allow opposition, ridicule, or powerful people to weaken your faith. Speak with humility and courage, and trust God with outcomes beyond your control. Remember that your calling is to be faithful; the final authority belongs to the Lord.

Prayer

Sovereign Lord, You reign in majesty and Your Word is sure. Give me courage to testify of Jesus Christ, even when I face opposition or uncertainty. Keep me steadfast in truth and faithful to Your calling. Let me trust Your authority above every earthly power, knowing that Your purpose cannot fail. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Challenge of the Day

Prepare a brief testimony of how Christ has changed your life, and share it with someone when an opportunity arises. When you face fear or opposition, remind yourself: the Lord reigns; earthly powers may judge, but they cannot overthrow His eternal purpose.
