Day 311 – Chronological Bible's Story in One Year Plan
Ephesians 4–6; Psalm 96
Opening Scene
The sun rises over the nations, and a new song begins to sound: “O sing unto the LORD a new song.” The earth is summoned to declare His glory, for the Lord reigns and comes to judge in righteousness. In Ephesus, Paul calls believers to embody that same message—not merely with their lips, but through lives transformed by Christ. Their old ways must give way to truth, love, holiness, and spiritual readiness. The worship that proclaims God’s glory among the nations must also be seen in the conduct of His people.
The Story Unfolds
Ephesians 4 urges believers to walk worthy of their calling, with humility, gentleness, patience, and love, preserving the unity of the Spirit. Christ gives gifts to equip the saints for ministry and build up His body until it matures in faith. Believers must put off the old man, be renewed in their minds, and put on the new man, created in righteousness and holiness. They are to speak truth, reject bitterness, forgive one another, and grieve not the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 5 calls them to imitate God as beloved children and walk in love, as Christ loved and gave Himself. They must reject immorality, greed, and corrupt speech, walking instead as children of light. Paul urges them to redeem the time, understand the Lord’s will, and be filled with the Spirit. Their relationships—including marriage—must reflect reverence for Christ, sacrificial love, and mutual honour.
Ephesians 6 teaches children to obey their parents and parents to nurture their children in the Lord. Servants and masters are reminded that they serve under the eye of their heavenly Master. Finally, Paul calls believers to put on the whole armour of God: truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word. Through prayer and vigilance, they stand against spiritual evil—not by human strength, but in the Lord.
Psalm 96 commands all the earth to sing, bless God’s name, and declare His salvation from day to day. The Lord is great and worthy of praise; all nations must forsake idols and give Him glory. Creation itself rejoices because He comes to judge with righteousness and truth.
The connection is clear: Ephesians describes the holy life that displays God’s glory, while Psalm 96 announces that glory to the world. The church’s unity, love, purity, and steadfastness become a living witness that the Lord reigns.
Spiritual Insight
Worship is more than a song; it is a life that reflects the character of God. The new life in Christ calls us to unity, holiness, sacrificial love, and spiritual vigilance. As Psalm 96 summons the nations to glorify the Lord, Ephesians teaches believers to make that proclamation visible through transformed conduct and faithful witness.
Life Application
Walk in humility and preserve unity. Reject darkness, speak truth, forgive freely, and let your relationships honour Christ. Put on God’s armour through Scripture, faith, and prayer. Declare His goodness not only with your words, but through a life that reflects His light.
Prayer
Lord God, You alone are worthy of praise among all nations. Help me walk worthy of my calling, live as a child of light, and love as Christ loved me. Clothe me with Your armour, strengthen me through prayer, and make my life a faithful declaration of Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge of the Day
Choose one area of your conduct that needs to reflect Christ more clearly. Take a practical step towards holiness, reconciliation, or faithful service. Share one testimony of God’s goodness with someone. Remember: the world hears God’s glory through our praise and sees it through lives transformed by Christ.
