After all that
Jacob did for Laban, Laban and his sons could still pay him back by envying him
to that point of receiving a warning from God not to harm him! What an
attitude! Anyways thank God for his quick intervention. Honestly, that’s the
way it is in our society of nowadays, people are hardly appreciative of some
other’s input or effort. I am sure Laban and his sons would have learnt their
lessons after Jacob left them to their fate because all these while that Jacob
was helping them to secure their wealth, they just overlooked it and above all
they forgot that you don’t fight whosoever that God is with.
Come to think of
it! What on earth could have triggered Rachel’s action, of stealing her father’s
gods? Was it that she did it to spite her father? Or probably, she didn’t know
that her husband (Jacob) is in covenant with God? Whichever way I didn’t think
it was the right thing stealing from her father. Our God, the God of Israel who
called her husband and his forefathers (Abraham and Isaac) is a jealous God, it’s
either you hold unto him or nothing.
If any of my
readers has indulged in these kind of unholy acts, as mentioned above, that is,
envying, stealing and lying, our God is a merciful father, he will not condemn
you rather he would judge you mercifully, read vs. 7 of Matthew 12, only if you realize
your mistakes and call unto him for help, Psalms 9:13; 16, Praise God!
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, please help me to be honest with others
outside myself and forgive me in any way that I have indulged in the sin of
envying, stealing and lying, Amen.
