From our
passages for today in Genesis, we can see how Joseph patiently went through the
ordeals of his life. He moved from pit to prison and from prison to palace.
After he had passed through these ordeals, as was written in Psalms 105:17-22,
the king sent for him and loosed him and made him the ruler of the entire
nation of Egypt. He was made next in command to pharaoh, praise God!
If Joseph had
ignored wisdom and slept with pharaoh’s wife, he would have fallen into the
temptation to be seduced off the right path unto a path that ultimately leads
down to death, Proverbs 2:12-22, such a great lesson for us all here.
Herod, unlike Joseph
succumbed to this temptation as condemned in the above passage. He went to the
extent of beheading john the Baptist. This act is highly condemnable, let’s not
follow this path at all for it leads to destruction, Matthew 14:1-21.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help
me to always live a life that will please God, not to fall into these
temptations that will separate from God, Amen.
