God allowed Job
to be put under test, to prove his love for him but Job didn’t know that he was
under test of any sort, yet he didn’t speak against God. He even lost his
property and children, yet he maintained his faith in God. The worst of it was
that his wife who should be comforting him came to ask him to speak against God
and die, yet he didn't do any of such! Job's friends heard about the grief that
had befallen Job and they came together to mourn with him but couldn't utter
any word to him for seven days and seven nights because the suffering on Job
was great.
We saw how Job
set the Lord before himself, he knew by faith that God was at his right
therefore, he shall not be moved, just like the Psalmist believed in God in
vs.8 of Psalm 16. This helped him not to speak against God and die as his wife
suggested to him.
Probably, Job’s
friends didn’t remember to apply Matthew 18:19-20 in Job’s instance may be God
would have delivered Job from his grief. Another major attitude we need to
imbibe here is the attitude of forgiveness because if we do not forgive others
who offend us, our heavenly Father who we pray to everyday for forgiveness will
not forgive us as well, please read that account very well, Amen!
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help
me to always forgive others who offend me, no matter the height of the provocation,
Amen.
